Frequently Asked Questions

Job Seeker

Q:
Is it possible to search for jobs by using specific keywords?
A:

The job search function does not currently allow for keyword searches. You can view all jobs included in the bank or do a more refined search using any of the criteria provided in the search template.

Q:
How do I know if a posted job is still available?
A:
Jobs are displayed for 90 days from the date they are received. If a position is
filled before the posting expires, it is the employer’s responsibility to have the
posting removed from the job bank. As long as the posting is included in the
bank, it is assumed the position is still open.
Q:
How can I get additional information on a job posting beyond what is listed?
A:
Employers post their own jobs, so they decide what information they want the job seeker to have. If you would like additional information regarding a certain job listing, you can contact the employer directly, if contact information is provided, or you might try visiting the company’s corporate web site.
Q:
Can I preview my application before I submit it?
A:
This is not possible at this time, so you will need to review your application information directly on the Application page. A copy of your application will be e-mailed to you after it is submitted, for your records.
Q:
When I apply online, how can I confirm that the employer received my application?
A:
Applications submitted online are acknowledged with an e-mail message that confirms your application was sent and includes a copy of what was submitted. If you submit an application, but do not receive a confirmation, notify BCPE immediately, so we can check whether or not your application was received by the employer.

You can also follow up with the employer if contact information is provided.

Q:
Can I save my application information in case I want to apply for other jobs?
A:
Application information cannot be saved. However, you can copy and paste information into the cover letter and resume fields, so if you keep a copy of a prior application submission acknowledgment, you should be able to paste this information into a new application form, without any trouble.
Q:
Do I have to be certified by BCPE to apply for the jobs posted in the BCPE Job Bank?
A:
No, although certification may be required or preferred by some employers. If it is, it will be noted in the job posting. If you aren’t certified and would like more information about certification, visit our Certification Information section.

Employer

Q:
What is the cost for posting a job in the job bank?
A:

Job postings are for 90 days and cost $300 (unless BCPE certified, in which, this price is discounted 15%).

Q:
What credit cards do you accept?
A:
If you pay for your job posting online, utilizing our PayPal account, we can accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover. If you opt to mail your payment, we accept Visa or MasterCard only
Q:
How can I edit my employer profile?
A:
Once logged into your account, select the “Review/Update Your Profile” link. You can edit the information in any of the fields provided in your profile. When you are done, click the “Complete All Updates” button at the bottom of the page. Your changes will be permanently recorded and your profile immediately updated throughout the job bank.
Q:
How can I change my password?
A:
Once logged into your account, select the “Review/Update Your Profile” link. Scroll down to the “Preferences” section, to the “Log In Password” field. Delete your old password and enter the new password you would like to use. Click the “Complete All Updates” button at the bottom of the page and your new password will be permanently recorded.
Q:
How do I opt out from receiving BCPE mailings?
A:
From time to time, BCPE may use your contact information to notify you of planned upgrades to the job bank and other BCPE news. If you prefer that we not include you in these mailings, select the “Do Not Send Mailings” box in the “Preferences” section of your profile.
Q:
Will my information be kept private?
A:
Yes. Your information is for BCPE use only and will never be given or sold to outside parties. We may, however, occasionally use your information to notify you of changes planned for the job bank or other BCPE news. For instructions on how to opt out from these kind of notices, see question #5 above.
Q:
How can I edit a current job posting?
A:
Once logged into your account, a list view will be displayed (under “My Job Postings”), showing all the jobs you have posted in the bank. Click the “Edit” button next to the position you would like to edit. Make any needed changes and click the “OK” button at the bottom of the page. Your changes will be permanently recorded and the job posting immediately updated.
Q:
Can I renew a posting that is about to expire?
A:
It is not possible to renew a current job posting. You can, however, add it back to the job bank by copying the information in the current posting to a new one. Just select the “Post a Job” link and a new template will be created for you to copy the old information into and provide payment. When done, click the “Submit” button and the job will be re-posted for another 3 months.
Q:
How can I remove a job that has been filled?
A:
If a job you are advertising is filled before the 90-day posting period expires, you can remove it from the job bank using the “Close” button next to the position listing on the access my account page. As long as a posting is listed in the job bank, it will be assumed that the position is open and applications for that position are being accepted.
